Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

It gets even richer!

NOW, they want to standardize PC and phone hardware! Hello February 2003! We were trying to do this when we were putting in another app that deals with allocation of PCs, phones, and phone/network connectivity. But now, all of the sudden, after the other folks left, people that would have been valuable during this sort of project, THEY WANT TO TACKLE IT. But here's the clincher.

Early last year we wanted VP's, Directors, Managers and Leads to give us a list of a standard load out on PC and telephone equipment. Well, everyone was "too busy" and this "wasn't important", even though the VP of my department and my manager were stressing the importance of streamlining the equipment/connection allocation process and how much more efficient it would be if we had a system in place. That had NO EFFECT WHATSOEVER.

NOW, our "acting VP" would like us to re-address the issue. Instead of getting load out recommendations from the users, we get to make them up ourselves. Normally, this kind of control would be welcomed and appreciated. Not right now though. This is exactly the kind of political nightmare that could start the "grab bag" mentality all over again. Sure, we can setup policies and standards for what we think the average user at each job description would need, but what happens when their "wants" don't meet within our load out guidelines? That's correct.............a constant stream of one-off special requests. Similar to what we had before, ONLY now...........No PC Support Manager, and No VP/CIO.

Time to dustoff the body armor and load the rifle for bear.
