Mike: What the fuck are you carrying a gun for? What, in case somebody steps to you, Snoop Dogg?
Sue: Hey man, you're not from here, alright. You don't know how it is. I grew up in L.A.
Trent: Anaheim.
Sue: Whatever, man. It's different out here. It's not like New York, Mikey.
Had a pretty good weekend. Went to my mom's on friday and had dinner and watched Monsters Inc. Great movie.
Saturday I hung out with the dudes and we ended up going to BilnEricas and watched Swingers. RobnKaren, Phil, Ruben, Carlos and Towelie attended. A good time was had by all.
I got my housing situation situated. I'll probably be living in a house with wheels for a short while, but I'll have a phat pad (apartment and not a condo, ah well) as soon as the current residents find a house.

"Son, all I've ever asked of my marines is that they obey my orders as they would the word of God. We are here to help the Vietnamese, because inside every gook there is an American trying to get out. It's a hardball world, son. We've gotta keep our heads until this peace craze blows over." - Some Colonel in Full Metal Jacket
So I've been working on this software project for the last 3 weeks. Trying to un-fuck it. Word came down from the vendor that we need faster machines to run this package. Its great that they're telling us this now. I've been trying to put bandaids on these headshot soldiers for the past fucking month. "Minuimum hardware requirements" my ass. We asked those fucks that exact question a few months ago, before we even started installing. They swore up and down their program would run on the average P3-500 w/ 128mb ram. Well, now their tune has changed. So, we ordered 60 brand new machines. P4- 1.8s with 512mb ram. Big bastard machines. They fly.
While I think it's cool that we're getting new machines for the users (a lot of them needed replacement anyways), I can't get over the fact that the software vendor all of the sudden changed their tune. Ah well, if grandma had balls she'd be grandpa I guess.
Anyhoo, everyone in my group has been building machines all day. I'm the only one building more than one at once. Being that I just installed 12 brand new machines, with this software package, I guess I have more of a handle for it than the rest of the guys, but it appears as though I will have done as many as the rest of my coworkers put together.
Same shit tomorrow.

"You want to compare brainpans. I won the Westinghouse prize when I was 12, big deal. Published at 19, so what. I got a double doctorate from MIT at 22, Chemistry and Geology. I taught at Princton for two and a half years. Why do I do this? Because the money's good, the scenery changes and the let me use explosives." -Rockhound, (Steve Buscemi) Armageddon
Had a good weekend. Just hung out with some friends, came up with a game plan for the whole "where the fuck Randy gonna live" situation. Work tomorrow. It should be alright. I made a lot of headway before I left for the weekend.

Phil's entry reminded me of something
Reasons I will never become a doctor:
1) I can't break anything gently. From referring to euthanizing an infant as "had to put it down" to referring to the death of an elderly person as "the old gallon of milk just expired". I just suck at explaining anything with any compassion. Maybe it comes from working in IT, where logic is king and feelings are thrown to the wind.
2) I'm squeamish. Nothing much to that other than the fact that I am.
3) I would kill my patients. Not on purpose, of course, but there would be many a heart attack because of pratical jokes consisting of bathroom humor and other tomfoolery.
"Oh, yeah, what are you gonna do? Release the dogs? Or the bees? Or the dogs with bees in their mouth and when they bark, they shoot bees at you?" - Homer J. Simpson
Holy balls, what a fuckin week. Work was work. Kicked some ass. Lamest of all, my cousin told me that I need to find a new place ot live by October 31. So my plans of finding a condo and buying it are accelerated, to say the least.
I really don't think I'm going to be able to get a house into escrow in the next 10 days, so I'm going to try to find a room to rent or an apartment. The situation sort of blows. Wait I take that back, it really blows. I thought I was going to have at least 90 days notice, but shit got moved up on me. Ah well, you can only control what is yours and fortunately that is where I am headed. Maybe not in the immediate future, like I had planned, but pretty damned soon.
I have tomorrow off. I'm stoked about that. I'm going to do some more footwork in my futile attempt to find a suitable dwelling. I don't know if I'm bummed because I won't be able to go through with my original plan of buying a place or if I'm pissed because the whole fucking situation has basically been dictated to me by my landlord. I'm leaning more towards the latter.

Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lieutenant Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago and you curse the marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don't want the truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand opposed. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to. - Colonel Nathan R Jessup, Commanding Officer of Marine Ground Forces, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
That quote reminds me, my cousin (a Marine) was just in Afghanistan on some missions. One of his squad was injured in action and was sent home. He's now on a Navy ship enroute to a new location. He's not sure where, but I'm guessing its a country that begins with and I and ends with raq.
I worked a tad late tonight. Its alright though. Work was just like home, only work doesn't have TV and home doesn't have AC. I was working on getting some laptops ready to ship out tomorrow. Big deadline. Not really, but the department would get a huge black eye if they didn't get done. Pathetic I know. Anyways, I got a shitload done and that's all that matters. I emailed a lender today about getting some information about buying a place to live. Big time shit. It will be nice to have a garage to park the car in and a shitter to park my ass on. hehehe
Here's a pic to inspire and bewilder:

" So, pretty please - with sugar on top ... clean the fuckin' car! " - The Wolf, Pulp Fiction
I am the definition of lazy. I didn't do shit this weekend but watch TV. The Sopranos are going to be on in an hour. Hell yeah. Work is going to be great this week.

Saturday, Donny, is shabbas, the Jewish day of rest. That means I don't work, I don't drive a car, I don't fucking ride in a car, I don't handle money, I don't turn on the oven, and I sure as shit don't fucking roll! - Walter Sobchak, The Big Lebowski
Fuck.................I feel fucking lazy today. I had plans to like do "chores" n shit, but I'm thinking they can either wait until tomorrow or I'll do them sometime this week.
I went and saw Stealing Harvard lastnight with the gang. The movie sure as shit wasn't worth NINE DOLLARS AND FIFTY CENTS. I mean it had its moments, but FUCK, that's a shit ton of money for a subpar comedy. In a day and age where you can buy a DVD used from Blockbuster for $9, the theaters just don't cut it anymore. I'm going to have to go ahead and not go anymore, its just better to watch all those movies I missed in the theaters on DVD and a buddy's house.
My cousin told me the other day that this house that I live in could be sold within 30 days. That would mean that I need to find a fucking place to either buy or rent within that time frame, or be homeless. Needless to say, I'm feeling a tad bit of stress. Between the huge projects we have going at work and facing the prospects of either buying a new place or spending about double on rent, I've got a full plate for the next few months. My parents have offered to help me with closing costs to buy a new place, but still, its going to be a nice kick in the wallet. It's something that I look forward to doing, it's just the timing that could be better.

From BLACK HAWK DOWN:
Durant: Super Six One, go to UHF secure. I've got some bad news.
Cliff Wolcott: Limo is a word, Durant. I don't want to hear about it.
Durant: It is not a word. It's not in the dictionary.
Cliff Wolcott: Limo is a word in common usage. That is the key phrase in scrabble, my friend.
Durant: No! If it's not in the dictionary, it doesn't count.
Cliff Wolcott: It doesn't have to be in the dictionary!
Durant: It does have to be in the dictionary! Listen, when we get back to base, it's coming off the board.
Cliff Wolcott: You touch my limo and I'll spank you, Night Stalker. You hear me?
Durant: Yeah. Promises.
Well, I just picked up a new hobby. Wardriving. It's basically driving around with a laptop and a wireless LAN Card and "sniffing" for Wireless Networks. I dig it cause it brings me back to the days when my friend, Rob, and I would jump in his 1988 Supra outfitted with a "box-kite" quad antenna (an antenna about 4 feet long mounted about 4 feet above the car on a mast) searching for a hidden transmitter. Good ol' geeky stuff. The difference being here, is that the equipent is smaller and easier to run without a bunch of people pointing and wondering WTF you're doing and if you're doing something illegal.
Anyhoo, I started last week with my laptop and a small wireless LAN card that is basically just for connecting to a WLAN within about 100feet of an Access point (a wireless lan "basestation"). On my drive into work, I just barely picked up one Access Point. Disappointed, I talked with Rob about the ol' radio stuff again. Then he reminded me that the secret to getting a better signal is with a higher gain antenna. I couldn't believe I didn't remember that most basic fact of radio geekery.
Now, the original goal of delving into this hobby was to spend as little as possible. I have 2 different Wireless setups at home already and running out and spending a shit ton of money on this wasn't something I had in mind. So I jumped on the internet and saw what the other folk were doing. Those folks are nuts. They had some hardcore expensive shit ($300 24db gain Dish antennas and the like). I decided I'd better just take a look at what I got. I could modify these cards that I have, and potentially ruin them all, or just buy something that I can mount in a better place. So I bought this sweet USB Linksys WLAN Adapter. It came with a 6 foot cable so I could set the laptop on the passenger seat or passenger's lap and set the "module" with the electronics and antenna on the dash.
So I fired it up on the way home from work. I was stoked. It picked up about 20 AP's in the first 2 miles and over 100 by the time I got home. I ran this cool program that logged just about every piece of information you can glean from the airwaves. I was surprised as hell to see how many networks were sitting out there, most of them unprotected. Ah well, we'll see how many more I can find on my way into work tomorrow. It will be fun.

"I'm here to regulate funkiness." -Leroy, The Mexican
Not too much happened this weekend. Hung out with friends, saw Spiderman, High Crime and Black Hawk Down, and fooled around with my Wireless LAN setup.
All-in-All a relaxing weekend. Work tomorrow. It shouldn't be too crazy, just a lot of stuff to do.

"I live in a Frat House, right? And these fuckers wanna kick me out for not observing quiet hour! Well, they can SUCK my QUIET COCK!" - Cliff (brother of Joe), Dead Man On Campus
Good Ditka, it was hot today. I'm glad its cooling down in the evening though. It's supposed to rain tomorrow, while remaining to be about 85 degrees out. This weather reminds me of Texas.
Work was almost a carbon copy of yesterday. Nottagodamnthing changed. We're finally going to wrap up the construction of the redundant Gigabit Network Link back to our Co-Location. I can't wait until we get it done. It will be a big win for us.
Even better.............I learned that I can post pics..............Oh joy!

Taggart: What do you want me to do sir?
Hedley Lamarr: I want you to round up ever vicious criminal and gun slinger in the west. Take this down.
[Taggart looks for a pen and paper while Hedley talks]
Hedley Lamarr: I want rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass-kickers, shit-kickers and Methodists!
Taggart: [finding pen and paper] Could you repeat that, sir?
I had a bitch of a time sleeping lastnight. With the earthquakes, the heat, and my throbbing..... wisdom-toothache, I was having a hell of a time. I got to sleep around 1am, which is normal for an "after weekend" night. The problem arose when I woke up at about 4 am and my fucking jaw was yammering at me like a screamapillar. The only conscious thought I remember is, "Fuck........this pain needs to like, go away, so I can wake for work in 2 and a half hours". Then I supposedly went back to sleep.
I wake up at 6:30, feeling pretty damned good. I then start wondering, how the hell did I get back to sleep. My toothache was really fucking killing me lastnight. I glance over at my desk and there's a pen, disassembled down to the plastic tube, chewed like a mofo. Now the fact that the pen was chewed didn't surprise me all that much as it would have been the logical item to teeth on. BUT the fact that I disassembled the fucking thing down to the open ended cylinder, baffles me. I could probably field strip an M16, put it back together and assassinate someone without even knowing. Oh yeah......bad motherfucker right here. hehehe

The Dude: Yeah, well. The Dude abides.
The Stranger: The Dude abides. I don't know about you but I take comfort in that. It's good knowin' he's out there. The Dude. Takin' 'er easy for all us sinners. Shoosh. I sure hope he makes the finals.
Took it easy this weekend. All four days, not one damned call from work. Fuckin A.
We had another jihad LAN bash at RobnKaren's this weekend. I won some games...........unfuckingbelievable. I guess I've gotten better. Damned great game. Rob had a few of his coworkers come play with us, so we had 3 guys there that had a hand in writing the game. It was a blast. I learned a lot playing with them.
I'm fuggin tired. Late.
